No.3 seed Angelique is safely through to the Qatar Total Open last eight following a 6-1, 7-6 (3) victory over world no.20 Anett Kontaveit on Wednesday.
The German raced through the opening set with three breaks of serve. The two players had traded breaks twice in the second set, before it went to a tie-break, which Angie eventually won 7-3.
With the one hour, 21-minute win, Angelique improved her perfect H2H against the Estonian to 3-0.
For a place in the WTA Premiere event semi-finals, the 31-year-old Bremen native will face Czech Barbora Strycova against whom she holds a 7-1 H2H record.
