Adelaide: Angie retires due to injury
Jan 15, 2020

Angelique retired from her second round match, just two games into the second set.

The ninth seed was forced to retire due to a left hamstring injury, trailing by a set and a break 6-3, 2-0.

Ukrainian teenager Dayana Yastremska advanced to the Adelaide International quarterfinals after 47 minutes of play.

It was the first match between the two.

Former world no.1 started off by breaking Yastremska in the opening game, and was close to consolidating the break, when the Ukranian regrouped and started to take command.

Yastremska broke in the second and sixth games to clinch the set. After falling behind 2-0, 0-30 in the second set, Angie stopped play to consult with the trainer about her hamstring, and judged she was unable to continue.
