No.18 seed Angelique suffered a 3-6, 3-6 first round defeat at the 2020 Roland Garros on Monday. The German fell to 19-year-old Kaja Juvan of Slovenia after 67 minutes of play.
From 3-3 in the opening set, Juvan won six straight games to take a one-set lead and go up 3-0 in the second set.
Angie tried to get back into the match but the young Slovenian hope fended off all attacks by her more experienced rival.
Juvan advanced to the second round, where she will take on the winner between Arantxa Rus and French wildcard Clara Burel.
For Angie, the defeat extended her Parisian woes as the two-time quarterfinalist has now fallen in the first round four times in the last five years.
