No.15 seed Angelique is safely through to the last 32 at Wimbledon 2022 after a straight sets win over Poland’s world No.65, Magda Linette.
Appearing in her 51st consecutive Grand Slam, Angie, the world No.19, followed up her first round victory over Kristina Mladenovic on Monday by winning 6-3, 6-3 for the 84th grass court victory of her career.
Angelique, who battled past Linette in three sets during May’s title run in Strasbourg, triumphed in one hour, 25 minutes.
Linette reached the third round on her past two visits to SW19 and did not face a break point during her first round win over Contreras Gómez. But Angie, the 2018 champion, was too strong for the 30-year-old Pole.
