Angelique and her first-round opponent Ekaterine Gorgodze of Georgia racked up 46 winners in 14 games in the first round of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, but it was the German former champion who got the straight-sets win, 6-2, 6-2.
“The match was not easy,” admitted Angie in her post-match interview. “It’s a pity we have to play without spectators here”, she added.
Angie will face world No. 5 Elina Svitolina of Ukraine in the second round.
